A successful day at MACC-POW!

Yesterday's Macc-Pow! comics convention in Macclesfield was a very enjoyable event. Fellow guests included Laura Howell (The Beano, Regular Show comic), David Leach (Psycho Gran, editor Titan Comics), Paul Grist (Kane, Jack Staff), Jessica Kemp (editor Missed Deadline magazine), Ed Hillyer (comics artist/writer), Joe Matthews (humour artist/writer) and more. Thanks to organiser Marc Jackson (himself a cartoonist) for the invite and for putting on such a friendly event. Here's a handful of photos from the day...
Lots of comics old and new.

Jessica Kemp and Ed Hillyer.

Beano artist Laura Howell.

Psycho Gran creator David Leach.

Combat Colin No.1 had its public launch there and sold well. It's also done very well via mail order and I'll be shipping copies out this week. If you're interested in buying a copy you can order one from my online shop:

Anyway, yesterday was a busy but tiring day so it's back to the drawing board today to catch up with work. The next convention I'll be at will be the huge London Film and Comic Con at Olympia that runs across three days (28th to 30th July).

Always glad to see pics from the UK convention circuit, Lew. Reminds me I need to pick up Missed Deadline, as you've suggested. By the way, has anyone noticed in the top photo that you seem to have inadvertently caught a candid canvas of... well, I don't know how if I should even say this because of how crazy it sounds, but... that's Spider-Man! I mean, this is supposed to be a fictional comic book character and yet there he is, just lounging there insouciantly, bold as brass, totally unheeding of any inspired cartoonists who might be tempted to snag a snap of the auroral awnings soaring around his person.

We're through the looking glass here, people!

Yep, Spidey met me at the station and escorted me through the streets of Macclesfield to the event. It's a strange career some days. :)

Missed Deadline isn't out yet, but the digital sample issue is available.
